About Tommy Harwood

Thomas Harwood is an entrepreneur who lives in Whitethorn, California. He moved to southern Humboldt County in 1996 determined to work hard and create successful business opportunities for himself and his community. In 2007, he started Southern Humboldt Farm, Feed and Ag Supply, Inc, now known as Redway Feed, Garden and Pet Supply.

The store supports the small local economy by creating over 25 jobs. The business continues to grow and evolve to meet the needs of the community. To support the small rural area around him, Harwood has hosted numerous fundraising events through his business.

To support the local school board, he donated ATV’s to be raffled off to raise money for the school. Every year from 2008 to present, Harwood has hosted a 2-3 day garden party sale at Redway Feed, Garden and Pet Supply where all profits were given to the local Hospice facility.

He is deeply invested in community outreach programs in the area where he lives and works. More recent business ventures include a retail store in San Francisco, California. In an effort to give back, Mr. Harwood donated funding to provide basketball jerseys for the Bessie Carmichael Middle School.

The students mostly come from underprivileged households and the school is constantly seeking outside support. Over the years, Harwood has worked with chapters of the San Francisco Rotary. He worked with the Rotary to raise money for Bikes for Vets, which supported local veterans.

In August 2019, he worked with the SOMA Rotary to donate to A Woman’s Place, a woman’s shelter in San Francisco.

With every new business venture Mr. Harwood takes into consideration what he is contributing back, so that not only is he successful but he aspires to improve his community as well. Other business ventures include Crop King, a garden supply retailer, and Good Elements Inc, a business that provides business management services to clients (hiring, accounting, marketing, licensing, etc).
